holiday do-over?

this holiday season started out so promising, didn't it?

then came today....  i guess it could be a lot worse but it could definitely better.

good news is that i actually slept last night.

and well.  first time in what seems like ages.

went to lunch with my mom and sister.  lee has been super sick all week and i've been fighting it.  we both have been fighting cabin fever though.  nice to get out.

then went downtown to designbox's brand fandango shop.

as we were walking back to the car, i noticed raleigh denim's new store the curatory.

a husband and wife team started the company a few years ago.  pretty damn amazing.  in complete awe of them.  the guy was really nice and showed us around the sewing area.  so cool....

came home and realized i screwed up my boss' calendar.  fantastic.

then, my sister got a call from the vet in portland.  her dog sitter had taken orzo in this morning and it's not good news.  not sure if it's cancer, an abscess or something else but there really isn't much they can do.  lee will go back to the vet with him on monday to see if they do further testing and what to do.  so sad.  he's the sweetest dog and has been through so much this year and survived 2 surgeries.  i hope he can survive this....  i love you, orzo.

my mom then gets a call from my aunt saying that my uncle has been in a horrible car accident.  apparently the axle on his car broke and he went off the road and flipped 4x.  the state trooper that was there said he was lucky he survived.  and even luckier that he didn't have his twin sons in the car.  a doctor was driving behind him and apparently pulled him out.  he has some injuries but he's going to be okay.

christmas plans are now up in the air because we were going to their house.  we'll see....

i think it's time for a do-over....and maybe a cocktail...

an oregonian.

license plates arrived (it only took 5 months).

correct screws were bought.

license plates installed.

and yes, stalkers, i blurred out part of it.

does this mean i have to wear fleece now?

i think not.

i like the last part of it though.

so i'm officially a resident of oregon.

or at least the $70 i shelled out to the dmv to get a driver's license tells me so.

what can i say about the dmv that hasn't been said before?

it's a nightmare.

today i decided i wasn't leaving without a license and luckily i pulled it off.

it's a lot of waiting in line, talking to someone, going to sit down, being called back up, going to sit back down, etc.  the test is hard but i studied.  a lot.

4 hours later, i left minus $70 and with a piece of paper that is my temp license.

now on to trying to get my car registered here.  i have to mail a lot of paperwork to the people that i have my loan with for them to release the title to oregon.  needless to say, it's a pain in the ass and takes a long time and a bunch of money.  but the process has begun.

2 things checked off the list.

now on to changing my car insurance, health insurance and bank account.  i hadn't planned to change any of it but it has proven to be a hassle so i'm biting the bullet.  making the commitment and LIVING here.

i was out walking the other day and ended up at the high school behind my place.

i noticed a tow truck loading up 2 tiny 3 wheeled cars.  i asked the guy sitting on the curb if they were his and they were.  he was taking them to a car show the next day.

they were BMW Isetta's.  one was a 1957 and the other a 1958.

i want one.  i could have parked it in my closet.
