i think i must be dreaming...
sun, is that you?
it's been so long since i've seen you that i think i must be dreaming.
whatever the case, i was glad to see you. too bad you didn't stick around through today.
nope, you just couldn't do it, could you? nothing but clouds today. but i'm so not complaining because it did not rain today!
the clouds did not stop us today. lee and i ventured up to the farmer's market in the neighborhood.
lee enjoyed a bagel with pumpkin, pesto and cream cheese.
and because of this, i couldn't stop staring at the booth that was selling local meat.
it was enormous and it kept looking at me.

01.11.11
it's 01.11.11.
yeah, i'm not that excited about it. maybe when it's 11.11.11 i'll have more enthusiasm.

finally settling back into portland and damn it's cold.
it's been raining ice shards all evening. and i do mean shards. it feels like glass on the skin.
i guess it's better than rain?
after returning to portland, lee, will and i went to get our mexican on.
we decided to try the crazy place in our neighborhood.
everywhere you look there are neon colors and they call everyone amigo.
upon entry and exit you are offered toothpicks, mints and hand sanitizer.
and then there is the big animal outside just asking to be violated.
no comment....

fog
i went out at around 8pm to walk the dogs and immediately felt like i was walking in a cloud.
or my glasses were super dirty.
i could barely see.
it got a little better up at the intersection.
and then really bad. bad enough to not be able to see across the street.
obviously it was impossible to photograph.
freaky cool though.

good things must come to an end....
sadly, lee (my sissy) is leaving tomorrow for her next rotation in medford, or. she's spent the last couple of days packing and preparing to be gone again. it's been nice having her here the last 5 weeks.
but it must end....
so we decided to go out to dindin.
this was only after having to take sophie (the high maintenance golden retriever) to the vet today because of her scratching problem. she has had fleas lately despite our best efforts to keep frontline on her. so the vet said to spray the house with some toxic crap and give her a ton of pills. lovely.
of course we had to leave the house and this was an excellent excuse to go out and try a new place.
with the dogs in tow.
lee found this place in the NE called lovely's fifty fifty. it's a small, locally owned place that serves wood-fired pizza using only fresh, local ingredients. and homemade ice cream.
apparently people love it. and so did we.
it's a cute place on n. mississippi.
i got the margherita pizza and it was fantastic.
lee had a pizza with winter squash, bellwether ricotta, arugula, sage and brown butter.
a little sweet for me but definitely delicious.
we then had to try the ice cream. fudge and salted caramel.
i think we died.
tomorrow, back to reality.

the track
i often find myself walking around the campus of the high school beside my place. sometimes with the dogs or just by myself. it makes me feel very rydell high (from grease).
